Set up your children

Children change fast, so Photohawk asks you to set them up: a name, a birthday and a few photos at each age. Why, and how it works.

Updated November 3, 2026

Children change so much that their photos are easy to mix up, especially brothers and sisters. So when Photohawk finds a child in your photos, it doesn't guess: it asks you to set them up. It takes a minute.

Set a child up

When Home, People or the scan screen says We found a child in your photos (or Looks like a child — set up during a scan), tap Set them up:

  1. Who's this? Type their name. If it isn't a child, choose This isn't a child.
  2. When were they born? Their birthday stays on your phone.
  3. Pick photos of them, one age at a time: tap every face that's them. Ages the scan hasn't reached yet show Still scanning and aren't required.

Photohawk then finds the photos that clearly fit the ones you picked at each age. Anything it isn't sure about waits for you: Check them in one go, or leave them for now.

Tap Later to do it another time. The child waits as a chip, such as 1 child to set up.

Once they're set up

  • Their own page, by age, and their age on every photo (shown only in the app).
  • On this day and other memories with them.
  • Sending photos of them to family, automatically if you want.

When the scan reaches older photos of them, Photohawk may ask Jasper at 2 years: pick a few photos.

Children are never recipients

Someone who looks like a child, or whom you've marked as a child, is never offered as a person to send photos to, can't be invited to a chat, and isn't matched with your contacts. To change it, open their page and choose Mark as a child or Not a child. Your answer always wins.

All of this stays on your phone.

Questions people ask

Do I have to set up children?

No. Until a child is set up, their photos are still in All photos and search, but they aren't a person in People and aren't used for memories or sharing. Tap Later to do it another time.

Can photos be sent to a child?

No. Children are never sent photos or messages, and can't be invited to chats. Photos of them can still be shared with adults.
