Name, merge and fix people

Name the people Photohawk finds, merge two groups that are one person, remove a photo with “Not this person”, hide someone, and tell Photohawk which one is you.

Updated November 3, 2026

Photohawk groups faces into people. You make the groups yours by naming people and fixing anything it got wrong. Your corrections always win, and they stay on your phone.

Name people

  • On Home or People, tap Name your people (or the Name button with a number) for a quick naming session: one face at a time, with the keyboard up.
  • Or open someone's page and tap Add name.

Name fields suggest names you've already used. Name someone once and you can find them in search and in every photo.

Merge two groups

Sometimes one person ends up as two groups.

  • Open one of them, tap the menu and choose Same person as…, then pick the other.
  • Or give them the same name: Photohawk asks whether they're the same person and offers to merge. Choose Keep both if they aren't.

Remove a photo: "Not this person"

On a person's page, press and hold a photo and choose Not Maya (or Not this person). The photo is taken out of Maya's photos and stays out: your correction always wins.

When Photohawk isn't sure, it asks: Is this Maya too? or Some photos may not be Maya, with Review or Check them. Answer Yes or No.

Hide someone

To keep someone out of People (a stranger in the background, say), open their page and choose Hide. Show hidden people in People brings them back.

Tell Photohawk which one is you

Open your own page and choose This is me. You're shown as You, you're never someone photos are sent to, and Home shows photos of you. A child can't be marked as you.

Children are best set up: it keeps brothers and sisters apart as they grow.

Questions people ask

Are the names I give people sent anywhere?

No. Names, corrections and relationships stay on your phone.

I named two people the same. What happens?

Photohawk asks whether they're the same person and offers to merge them. Choose Keep both if they're different people.
