Is my selfie stored? Delete your face data

Your selfie isn't stored. How a gallery's face data is kept, for how long, and how to have yours deleted.

Updated October 29, 2026

Face search is optional: you can always search by bib number or browse instead. If you use a selfie, this is what happens to your data, as set out in the biometric data retention policy.

Your selfie

Your selfie has to be sent for the search, so it can be compared with the faces in the gallery's photos. It's used for that search only and then discarded. It isn't stored, and it isn't used to create a face template.

They're turned into face templates so they can be searched, kept in that gallery's own index, and deleted automatically 12 months after each photo was uploaded at the latest, sooner if the gallery closes or face search is switched off for it.

Ask for your face data to be deleted

Email support@photohawk.com and say which gallery or event it's about. If selfie search has already ended for a gallery, its selfie button also offers Make a request.

The matching face data is deleted within 30 days, and those photos are stopped from being indexed for face search again.
