Race photos for every participant, found by bib or selfie

Photohawk Studio is the event photography platform behind your photo gallery: participants find their own photos in seconds, download them free or buy them, and the money is shared with the people who made the day happen.

Every participant finds their own photos

No scrolling through thousands of thumbnails. Face recognition and bib number search do the finding, so your inbox doesn't fill with "where are my photos?"

  • Bib number search

Participants type their number. Numbers are read from the photos after upload, with no tagging by hand.

  • Selfie search

Participants take a selfie and see the photos they're in, from the whole event. The selfie is used for that one search, then discarded.

  • Browse by place and colour

Collections for the start, points on the course and the finish, and filters by clothing colour for when a bib is hidden.

  • Live while people still care

Previews go up first, on every plan, so the gallery is searchable soon after the photos come off the course.

Live the same day

Participants look for their photos in the hours after the finish. With previews first, a 10,000-photo gallery is live in about 8 minutes on a 20 Mbps upload, while the originals follow in the background.

Put the gallery link in your results email and on your results page, and people go from their finish time to their photos in one click. Lost the link? They can find your event in Photohawk's Find your photos directory.

75 million photos uploaded and 185 million people detected, at events in 29 countries.

Free, for sale, or both

Each gallery sells photos or gives them away as free downloads. Choose what suits the event, your sponsors and your photographers.

  • Free photos, paid by a sponsor

Make a gallery free to download and let a sponsor cover it. Their name goes on the gallery; every participant gets their photos.

Free race photos paid by sponsors
  • Your photographers, one gallery

Invite the photographers you hire into your workspace. They upload into your galleries from their browser, and participants search one gallery for the whole event.

    How the web uploader works
  • Sales shared, automatically

On the Max plan, share each gallery's sales with your photographers, a club or a charity. Photohawk works out every share on every sale and pays them for you.

A gallery's Revenue split: a photographer on 30% of the photos they took, a two-person crew on 20%, a running club on 10% and a finish-line sponsor on 5% of one collection, and the workspace keeps at least 35% of every sale.

Face search, handled carefully

  • The selfie is used for that one search and then discarded.
  • Bib search and browsing work without any face data.
  • Photohawk's face data policy sets out what's kept, for how long, and how people ask for it to be deleted.
  • Our GDPR checklist lists what to tell participants before the event.
Checklist for organisers using face search: say it before the event, link the face data policy, offer bib search and browsing, make opting out easy, know the time limits, and think about children.

Questions organisers ask

Do we need our own photographers to use Photohawk?

No. You can run your own workspace and invite the photographers you hire to upload into your galleries, or work with a photographer who already uses Photohawk Studio and share their gallery link. Either way, participants get one gallery to search.

How do participants find their photos?

By bib number, by a selfie, or by browsing the collection for the part of the course they remember, such as the start or the finish. Bib numbers are read and faces indexed automatically after upload, with no tagging by hand.

Can participants download their photos for free?

Yes. Each gallery can sell photos or give them away as free downloads, and some events mix the two. The organiser or a sponsor can pay for free downloads: they're charged per photo, and from 1 November 2026 every plan includes a monthly allowance (see pricing).

How soon after the event are the photos online?

With previews first, on every plan, light previews go up before the originals, so a gallery can be searchable within minutes of the photos coming off the course: a 10,000-photo gallery is live in about 8 minutes on a 20 Mbps upload. The originals follow in the background.

Can we share photo sales with our photographers, club or charity?

Yes, on the Max plan. Revenue splitting shares each gallery's sales with the people you choose: photographers for the photos they took, a team as a group, a club or charity for every sale, or a sponsor for one collection. Photohawk works out every share on every sale and pays people through its payout partner.

Is face search allowed under GDPR?

Selfie search uses biometric data, so it needs a lawful basis and clear information for participants. The selfie is used for that one search and then discarded. Our face data policy explains how Photohawk handles face data, and our GDPR checklist for organisers lists what to tell participants.

Can the gallery carry our event's branding?

Yes. Galleries carry the workspace's logo and colours on every plan, and Pro and Max can use your own domain. On Lite, a small “Powered by Photohawk” badge sits at the foot of the gallery.
