Chats, invites, and people who only chat

Chats in Photohawk are end-to-end encrypted: only the people in a chat can see its photos and messages.

Start a chat

In Chats, tap New chat. Choose from your People first, then your contacts (if you allow access), or type a phone number or email. A chat with one person is a one-to-one chat; add more people for a group chat. Children aren't listed: they can't be sent photos or messages.

In a chat you can send photos with captions, messages and reactions, make shared albums, and save photos to your library. Every chat's menu has Mute, Report and Block.

Invite someone who isn't on Photohawk

Each person gets their own invite link, which works once and lasts 14 days.

• By email: Photohawk emails it to them.
• By phone number: you pass it on: Share invite link, Send link by Messages, a QR code, or Copy.

Opening the link on an iPhone with Photohawk opens the chat. Without the app, the link shows how to get it, and the invite is kept through sign-in.

People who only chat

Someone who installs Photohawk from an invite sees Ana invited you to a chat, signs in and goes straight to the chat. They're not asked where they live, for face grouping or for a trial, and nothing on their phone is scanned. Their tabs are Chats, Your photos and Settings.

If they'd like Photohawk to find the people in their own photos, they can choose Find the people in your own photos (a card after a few days, or in Settings). That leads through where they live, the two agreements and the free trial. Chatting and receiving stay free whatever they choose.

Let people find you

Sharing and privacy → Who can find you lets people who already have your email or number see that you're on Photohawk. It's off unless you turn it on.
