Your statement lists every order in a period, the fees taken from it, any refunds, the payouts you received and what Photohawk owes you. Give your accountant the PDF, or the CSV to import into a spreadsheet.
Download a statement
- Go to Balance & Payouts.
- Under Statements, choose a period: a Month, a Quarter, a Tax year (in the UK, 6 April to 5 April), a Calendar year or Custom dates.
- If you sell in more than one currency, choose the Currency.
- Choose Download PDF or Download CSV.
A summary of the period shows before you download. Only owners and administrators of the workspace see Statements.
Stripe and PayPal orders
Every order is on one statement, and the Paid to column shows where the money went:
- Your Stripe account. The buyer paid your own Stripe account. Stripe took its processing fee and Photohawk's commission (the application fee) automatically, and the net went to your Stripe account, which Stripe pays to your bank.
- Photohawk balance. Photohawk collected the payment for you, for example by PayPal. Photohawk kept its commission and the payment provider's fee, and added the rest to your balance, which you can request as a payout.
What's on the statement
The header shows your workspace, the period, the currency, the date it was made and a statement reference. Dates are in your workspace's country's time zone.
Summary: gross sales for each payment method (Stripe, PayPal, and others such as Antom), refunds, Photohawk's commission, print and add-on costs, payment processing fees and your net earnings, split into what went to your Stripe account and what was added to your Photohawk balance.
Orders: one line per order.
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Gross paid by buyer | What the buyer paid, after any discount code |
| Commission | Photohawk's commission on the sale |
| Print / add-ons / shares | Print-lab costs and shipping, add-ons the buyer bought (such as WhatsApp delivery or a reel), and revenue-split shares paid to photographers or partners for you |
| Processing fee | The payment provider's fee (Stripe, PayPal or another provider) |
| Net to you | Gross minus commission, print and add-ons, and the processing fee |
A refund is its own line with negative amounts, dated the day of the refund. If fees were returned with the refund, they show as negative commission.
Payouts and your Photohawk balance
Payouts lists each payout you received in the period: the date, its reference, how it was paid (bank transfer or PayPal) and the amount.
Photohawk balance shows what Photohawk owed you at the start of the period, the net earnings added, the payouts you received, and what it owed you at the end. Orders paid into your own Stripe account never go into this balance. If Photohawk collected nothing for you, there's no balance section.
VAT
If you're not sure how to treat the commission or fees for tax, ask your accountant.
Questions people ask
Does Photohawk charge or deduct VAT on my sales?
No. Photohawk does not deduct or calculate VAT on your sales, whether buyers pay by Stripe or PayPal. You're responsible for VAT on your gross sales, so report it on the gross sale amount.
Why is there no invoice for the commission on my Stripe orders?
When buyers pay into your own Stripe account, Stripe takes Photohawk's commission (the application fee) and its own processing fee automatically. The statement lists both for every order, and Photohawk doesn't send a separate invoice for them.
I sell in more than one currency. What do I download?
One statement per currency. Choose the currency next to the period, and download each one.
