Upload with the web uploader

The web uploader sends many photos at once, puts previews up first so your gallery is live in minutes, and resumes if the connection drops.

Updated October 29, 2026

The web uploader is the standard way to upload to Photohawk, on every plan. It sends many photos at once, adapts to your connection, and resumes by itself if the connection drops.

Open the uploader

  • From a gallery: open the gallery's Upload tab and choose Open uploader. It opens in a new tab.
  • Directly: go to upload.photohawk.com and sign in.

The uploader works like a folder tree: workspace, then gallery, then collection. Upload into the collection you want the photos in.

Add your photos

Drag photos or a whole folder onto the uploader, or use Add photos or Add folder. Before anything is sent, a summary shows how many photos are new and how many are already there. Photos already in the gallery are skipped, so adding the same folder twice never duplicates anything.

Previews first, originals later

For a large event you can choose Previews first, originals later. Small previews go up first, and as soon as they're processed, face and bib search work and the gallery can go live, often in minutes. The full-size originals follow:

  • Right after the previews, in the same session, or
  • Later, by a date you choose: add the same folder to the same place again, even from home, and only the originals are sent.

Buyers can order as soon as the previews are up. Downloads and prints wait for each original, and the originals of ordered photos are sent first. Choose Upload full size now to send originals straight away instead.

If the upload stops

Keep the tab open until it finishes. If the connection drops, the uploader carries on when it's back. If the tab closes, add the same folder to the same place again: only the photos that didn't make it are sent.

Copy photos from Dropbox or Google Drive

If an owner or administrator has connected Dropbox or Google Drive in the workspace's settings, choose From Dropbox / Google Drive in the uploader to copy a folder straight into a collection.

When your storage is full

From 1 November 2026, if your workspace is over its plan's storage and has no card on file, new uploads pause until a card is added. Nothing is deleted and your galleries keep selling. See What happens if I go over my storage?

Questions people ask

Is the web uploader on every plan?

Yes, including previews first. Your own FTP server is on every plan too.

Can I close the tab while photos upload?

Keep it open until the upload finishes. If it closes, add the same folder to the same place again and only the missing photos are sent.
